Squirrel Traps
I thought we would show you something a little different. I snuck into the warehouse with my camera today, much to the delight of our happy workers. What a day it’s been. Here at TrapMan we have been working on a new batch of Squirrel Traps. I got the chance to see step by step how we manufacture a new batch.
Step 1 – The Door, Fronts & Backs
Our team carefully measure and cut to size a batch of doors, fronts and backs of the cage. Ensuring there is minimal wastage can sometimes be a mathematical headache but it is worth it in the end.
Step 2 – Handles
Whilst one element of our Squirrel Traps are being manufactured in one area another team member will be working on a different part. This is certainly a job everyone jumps at the chance to do. Taking rolls of wire and straightening each piece to a specific length. We then take the straightened wire and bend hooks that will later be tightened onto the top of the trap. Once we have a bar with two hooks we then go onto bending each handle into its handle shape. You would not believe me if I told you that keeping the handles from hooking onto each other is a real skill.
Step 3- The Body
Our TrapMan Squirrel Traps have a nice rectangular body. We start this process by cutting and trimming the body blanks pieces to size, next our wonderful team will fold the body blanks into the desired shape and clip into position.
Step 4 – The Prototype
While we are working to complete each step we stop to take a moment to check everything is working. This is a prototype that has been made this morning. Checking everything is square and the door fits and closes exactly how it should. This then becomes the prototype for this batch.
Step 5 – The TrapMan Touch
We add all of the TrapMan touches like our tread plates and setting bars and our logo, unfortunately I was ushered out of the warehouse because our happy workers would not allow me to take any more pictures. However, in just a few days we have gone from having no squirrel traps to having a batch made and ready to send off to get their shiny coat. Good Job all round.
